The whole workforce problem. Not just the hours.
A locum platform sells you hours and leaves the management, the training and the governance on your desk. GPDQ Prescribers takes all four layers, leaving the cost predictable and the capacity real. This means GPhC-registered prescribing pharmacists, recruited, credentialed and clinically led by GPDQ, operating under your CQC/GPhC registration, clinical pathways and prescribing protocols.
Recruit
We hire from the UK’s working pool of prescriber pharmacists, and ours come back. GPhC verified against the register, right to work and DBS evidenced, experience assessed before anyone reaches you. You approve every prescriber individually.
Train & assess
Every prescriber moves through a staged onboarding path built on your SOPs. Reading gates unlock assessments, two knowledge gates stand before live work, and supervised consultations are reviewed before sign-off. The evidence says ready, not the calendar.
Govern & audit
CQC-heritage clinical governance runs under everything. Versioned clinical content with named owners, consultation audit, safety protocols, escalation to GPDQ clinical leads, and a per-prescriber compliance file your assurance review can open.
Deploy & manage
Rostered capacity matched to your volumes, seven days where the work needs it. Productivity measured against definitions we agree with you, quality assured by us and reported monthly. Scale up for a launch. Scale down when the curve turns.
The hidden cost of a fixed team
Every online pharmacy and prescribing provider carries the same structural cost, and it comes straight off EBIT. A clinical team hired for a demand curve nobody can predict, fixed whether volumes rise or fall.
A fixed team is too big when demand dips and too small when it surges. GPDQ Prescribers tracks the curve.
An illustration computed from the curve above, not a result. A year of demand averaging 1,000 prescriptions a day at 5 minutes each, swinging from 30% below that average to 44% above it, against a team fixed at 79 clinician hours a day. Idle hours are cost that falls straight through to EBIT. Unserved orders are revenue that never arrives.
Covering the bases
You focus on tech, product, marketing and supply chain. We carry the clinical layer, the governance, the medical oversight and the prescribers themselves. The disciplines differ at the point of care. The machinery underneath them is the same.
Weight management
High-volume prescribing for the GLP-1 sector, under tight SOPs, audited consultation by consultation, delivered at national scale. Capacity moves with demand.
Hormone therapy
HRT and TRT are subscription medicine with careful titration. Longer consultations, richer histories, and capacity that tracks subscriber growth.
Hair loss
Protocol-led and high-volume, where consistency is the clinical discipline. Fast consultations, every one auditable, with clean escalation paths.
Skin
Dermatology programmes, from acne pathways to maintenance prescribing. More photographic evidence, more follow-up, the same audit spine underneath.
Any high-volume online category that needs a governed prescriber behind it is a place GPDQ Prescribers can point.
GPDQ provides clinical workforce services to healthcare providers. This page is for business audiences, is not directed at patients, and does not promote any medicine.
The right blend of clinicians for your requirements
Prescriber pharmacists are the core of the GPDQ Prescribers engine, and they stand on a bench that already recruits, governs and deploys the clinician types a prescribing operation runs on, for national clients. When your programmes grow, the bench grows with them.
Prescriber pharmacists
The core of this engine. GPhC-verified, trained on your SOPs and deployed at national scale.
GPs
The bench GPDQ was built on. UK GPs running virtual GP services for the country’s largest insurers.
Nurses
Registered nurses for screening, triage and clinical delivery across programmes.
Healthcare assistants
Screening days, health checks and clinical support that scale delivery without scaling cost.
Weeks to governed capacity, not quarters
We scope your work first and train cohorts in parallel, so capacity arrives as a group.
Scope the work
We map your workflows, volumes and SOPs, agree the productivity definitions and service levels that matter to you, and define what a deployed prescriber must evidence before going live. The date we give you comes from that scoping, not from a brochure.
Stand up the cohort
We recruit from our pool, train on your SOPs through gated modules and assessment, run supervised consultations under review, and present each prescriber for your individual approval, so you receive a cohort rather than a trickle.
Deliver and manage
Your cohort goes live on your platform, or on one we provide under your brand. We roster, audit, quality-assure and report monthly against what was agreed. You watch cost to prescribe become a number you can plan on, and the management layer comes off your desk.
No integration project between you and going live
Our prescribers work in your systems rather than asking you to adopt ours.
Your platform, not ours
Your existing PMR, EHR or proprietary software is where the work happens. Where you do not have one, we provide a platform under your own brand.
Rostered to what is coming
We sit with you in weekly or fortnightly planning sessions, map your next month and next quarter of demand together, and roster to it.
Audit trail in your system
Every consultation is logged in your system for audit, with escalation to GPDQ clinical leads and monthly clinical governance meetings.
Capacity isn’t headcount
Prescribing capacity behaves like a fixed cost until it is run as a managed service. Then it behaves like what it is. A number that flexes with demand.
Judge the method
What you can inspect is the machinery every deployed prescriber moves through, the same machinery a clinical assurance review looks at.
Staged onboarding
A defined path from first module to live prescribing, with completion tracked at every stage. Fifty stay as governed as five.
Two-gate assessment
Knowledge is examined twice, on straightforward and complex work, before any live volume. Passing once is not enough.
Supervised consultations
First live work runs supervised and every consultation is submitted for review. Sign-off follows the evidence, never the calendar.
Consultation audit
Live work is audited on a continuing cycle against your SOPs, with findings fed back into training rather than filed away.
Fortnightly demand reviews
Expected demand and held supply are reviewed every fortnight, so scaling either way is planned together, with time to act.
Owned clinical content
Every SOP, protocol and reference carries a version, a review date and a named clinical owner. Nobody prescribes from a draft.
The standout way to resource prescribing
Most providers have tried at least two of these. The table is the reason the third exists.
The service levels we work to
These are the standards our prescribing programmes run to. The levels that bind for your service are agreed with you and written into your contract, against your volumes and your protocols.
Turnaround
of orders reviewed by a prescriber within 24 hours of receipt, seven days a week.
Screening
of orders screened against the agreed clinical protocol before any prescribing decision.
Escalation
at most for a GPDQ clinical lead to answer a query. Safety concerns escalate at once.
Audit and assurance
audits per prescriber on an agreed scorecard, with support and a re-audit below threshold.
Where delivery falls short of the minimum agreed with you, we make it up within seven working days or credit it. That is a commercial remedy and it sits in your contract, separately from the clinical assurance above.
Built to keep the best prescribers
Capacity is only as good as its retention, and retention is designed, not hoped for. GPDQ Prescribers is built as the place prescribing pharmacists choose to work. Multiple work settings instead of one ceiling, opportunities to take on clinical review and governance responsibilities, and work that treats them as clinicians rather than throughput. Your continuity depends on our retention, so we invest in it as the product.
Price your capacity in a minute
Two numbers give an indicative monthly cost for a pharmacist prescriber on weekdays. The full estimate adds more clinicians, evenings and weekends, and training.
What providers ask us
The questions pharmacy leads, medical directors and operations teams put to us before an engagement, answered straight.
Who carries clinical governance and liability?
Delivery runs under GPDQ’s clinical governance, with named clinical ownership, consultation audit and incident protocols as part of the service. Liability and indemnity are agreed contractually for each engagement, in terms your legal team will recognise, before anyone goes live.
What are the prescribers’ qualifications?
The cohort is built from GPhC-registered pharmacist independent prescribers with experience across NHS and private prescribing. Every registration and qualification is verified at source before a prescriber enters training, and the evidence sits in the same per-prescriber compliance file you can inspect.
How do you vet and assure the quality of prescribers?
Selection runs through clinical interview and scenario assessment before training begins, and nobody prescribes until both assessment gates are passed. Once live, consultation audit, peer review and named clinical leadership assure quality continuously, and the results are visible to you.
Are the prescribers UK-based?
Yes, UK-based at all times. Every prescriber is GPhC-verified against the register, with right to work, DBS and indemnity evidenced in a per-prescriber compliance file you can inspect.
Who controls patient data, and how is it protected?
When our prescribers work inside your platform, you remain the controller of your patients’ records, and our clinicians use them under your arrangements and a written data processing agreement. GPDQ is registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office, and our information security management system is being implemented for certification to ISO/IEC 27001.
Can you help us develop or improve our own SOPs?
Yes. Our clinical team can support the development and review of your standard operating procedures, drawing on our experience in protocol design and training delivery. The work is grounded in the same clinical governance that runs under our own service.
Who engages the prescribers?
GPDQ holds the contract with each prescriber and manages their vetting, compliance and clinical governance. You approve each prescriber to work on your service, where they follow your clinical SOPs. We carry the commercial risk of matching capacity to your demand.
How are prescribers trained on our clinical pathways?
Onboarding includes dedicated training on your SOPs, formularies and clinical pathways, signed off with your clinical lead before go-live. Prescribers arrive knowing your workflows, not learning them on your patients.
Can we run on GPDQ’s platform?
Yes. GPDQ runs its own clinical delivery systems for national virtual GP services today, and the prescribing workflow can run on our stack from day one, with the delivery layer scoped under your own brand if you want it. You do not need a platform of your own to start.
Can you work inside our platform?
Yes, absolutely. Your prescribers work in your systems, under your SOPs and your clinical workflows, from day one. There is no integration project between you and going live, productivity is read from your own workflow data, and reporting reaches you as a monthly pack.
Can you cover evenings and weekends?
Yes, where your work needs it. Capacity is rostered to your volumes, seven days a week where the demand is there, and the fortnightly demand reviews set the shape of each rota before it is needed.
What happens if a prescriber is not the right fit?
Tell your account lead. We agree the change with you and bring in a replacement from the bench. The service exists to supply the right workforce, not just a workforce.
What performance and activity data do we see?
Reporting is configured with you at onboarding and reaches you as a monthly pack covering cohort activity, productivity read from your own workflow data, and consultation-audit summaries. Fortnightly reviews keep expected demand and held supply in the same conversation.
How fast can a cohort go live?
Weeks, not quarters. The gated onboarding path is measured in hours per prescriber rather than months, and cohorts train in parallel. Scoping sets the date honestly before anyone commits.
How does the model handle spikes or falls in our demand?
Every engagement has a committed minimum, billed whether used or not, and a ceiling, both agreed at scoping. Prescriber hours flex with your demand inside that band without renegotiation. The fortnightly demand reviews plan scaling in both directions before it is ever urgent.
How do you price the service?
We price the clinician’s time, not a fixed price per prescription. You tell us your own minutes per prescription and which clinician runs each workflow, and the estimate on this page turns that into a price per prescription and a monthly figure. Teams using AI in their workflows know their own time better than anyone, and a fixed price per prescription goes wrong as soon as a workflow changes.
Which clinicians can we use?
Pharmacist prescribers, nurse prescribers, GPs and specialist nurses. Each workflow can run on a different clinician type, and you add a line to the estimate for each one.
Are evenings and weekends priced differently?
Yes. Clinician pay differs outside weekday office hours, so you tell us the share of each workflow that runs in the evenings and at weekends and that share is priced at its own rate.
How does volume pricing work?
Volume pricing is set on your total clinician hours a day across every workflow, not per programme. As the total grows, the hours above each threshold are priced lower, and the estimate applies that automatically.
How is training charged?
Training on your SOPs and systems is charged for each prescriber when they start, including anyone who joins later. You enter the training hours a new prescriber needs for each workflow, and the estimate works out how many prescribers that takes. Further training for new or changed workflows is charged unless the change is negligible.
What if our minutes per prescription change?
Your minutes are your estimate, and we check them against your workflow when we scope the engagement. Prices are reviewed every six months. If the actual time per prescription differs materially from your estimate we re-price at that review, and if clinician pay rates move materially the price is reset.
What does the price include?
Recruitment, assessment, clinical governance, audit, rostering, quality assurance, demand reviews and monthly reporting are in the price, as is cover for holidays, absence and time between cases. Training is charged on top, per prescriber. Off-label prescribing may need extra indemnity, priced at scoping. Prices exclude VAT, and every estimate is indicative until we scope it with you.
Do you compete with your clients?
No. GPDQ has no consumer brand in your categories and no pharmacy fulfilment. We are the workforce layer under your brand, and every engagement is ring-fenced contractually.
